Twitter supercharges its Creatorship backing

Twitter is rapidly becoming a platform with lots of opportunities for creators to connect with audiences and make money.

Super Follows allow creators to charge a monthly subscription of $2.99, $4.99, or $9.99 for access to certain tweets. This could be useful to those who want to place a premium on some of their output.

Only US-based creators aged over 18, with at least 10,000 followers, and who have tweeted at least 25 times in the past 30 days can apply for Super Follows right now, and while subscribers can be anywhere in the world, they have to use iOS for now.

Another fast-growing opportunity for creators is Twitter Spaces. Similar to Clubhouse, this social audio feature lets users start a live show on their own or with co-hosts and invite listeners to speak too. Twitter is investing heavily in Spaces, introducing new features regularly.

It’s started rolling out the ability to record Spaces, so those who miss the live discussion can catch up for up to 30 days. And it’s getting easier to find good Spaces to listen to, with a dedicated tab for the feature rolling out.

Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with an audience, and Twitter’s Revue newsletter service keeps improving. Creators can now add subscribe buttons to their Twitter profiles and tweets, making it easy to grow a subscriber base.

And finally, don’t discount the potential of Communities. This Facebook Groups-style feature is still in limited testing, but it could develop into another avenue for creators build a strong bond with their audiences.
