We're shortlisted for the Technology Project of the Year 2023

May 2023 - Commerce • Press

We're thrilled to share that our work with MKM Building Supplies is shortlisted for the Technology Project of the year 2023.

The Retail Systems Award is in its 18th year and is a revered and prestigious event recognising only the most innovative in the sector, honouring achievements that have offered outstanding solutions to the retail industry.

This is why we're so excited to share that we've been shortlisted for the Technology Project of the Year & Omnichannel Solution Award for our work with MKM building supplies. This nomination along with our win at the BigCommerce Partnership Awards is a further testament to our commitment in delivering the best in class solutions for all of our clients.

Shortlisted for Technology Project of the Year

To save MKM's burning platform and future-proof their tech stack, we re-platformed the MKM website to a new architecture leveraging on the BigCommerce platform ecosystem including a successful partnership between Bloomreach (experience services) and Vue Storefront (front end) to create a global first use of MACH technologies. This composable approach allowed us to tailor the solution to the exact needs of MKM and reduce dependency on a single vendor.

The results

MKM was able to relaunch its entire digital ecosystem to deliver hyper-personalised and localised experiences to different segments of its customers and buyers — across all geographies. This project demonstrates that there is a new way for retailers to embrace the specificities of their local branches while offering a coherent customer touchpoint online that is available at a national level.  Although only launched in August 2022, the new platform has already driven promising results for the brand, with MKM already reporting:

  • 16% uplift in year-on-year organic traffic

  • 77% boost to time on page

  • 26% uplift in online sales year-on-year.

From an operational level, this project has completely streamlined online sales in a sector that used to rely heavily on personal discounts and a manual order process, that could only be performed in person.

“The Brave Bison team showed real expertise in managing cross-team collaboration and multi-partner management despite ever-evolving requirements and constant integration challenges. Despite these ongoing complications and the complexity of our business model (where every branch has unique product selection and pricing), the Brave Bison team delivered a customer-first omnichannel solution on time and on budget.”
- Andy Pickup, Digital & Marketing Director at MKM
