Revolutionising eCommerce payments for Worldline on SAP and Salesforce

Challenge

Worldline is the European leader in the payments and transactional services industry and the fourth largest player worldwide. The technology partner of choice for merchants, banks and third-party acquirers, it supports businesses across a variety of sectors. 

Worldline needed to streamline and enhance the integration of its payment methods across multiple eCommerce platforms. Their goal was to improve the payment experience for merchants and their customers on SAP Commerce Cloud (B2B and B2C) native and headless storefronts and Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C. The challenge was to provide a seamless, flexible, and secure payment solution that would support a wide range of payment methods and keep pace with regulatory changes in different regions.

But it’s crucial that the external plugin does the job and yet remains invisible. We also wanted an integration that would, for example, be able to clean up unpaid orders and clear inventory – as you don’t want an open payment session blocking inventory for an hour."

Brave Bison developed a suite of five specialised payment plugins tailored to integrate Worldline’s payment services into SAP Commerce Cloud and Salesforce Commerce Cloud. These plugins support a comprehensive array of 30+ payment methods across 170 countries, ensuring that merchants can offer their customers flexible and convenient ways to pay. Each plugin is designed to integrate seamlessly with the respective platform’s checkout process, ensuring optimal compatibility and ease of use for merchants.

Key payment methods supported include:

Credit and Debit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Maestro, Diners Club, etc.
Alternative Payment Methods: Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna, Twint, PostFinance Pay, Oney, CPay
Local Payment Methods: Ideal (Netherlands), Giropay (Germany), Sofort (Europe), Bancontact (Belgium), Carte Bancaire (France)
Bank Transfers and Direct Debit solutions, ensuring global payment acceptance.

Merchants can fully customise the checkout experience, with options like Hosted Checkout for guest and registered users via Worldline’s Hosted Order Page, and Hosted Tokenisation Checkout for card payments through an iframe, avoiding customer redirection. Merchants can process one-time payments and recurring subscriptions via card or SEPA Direct Debit, with flexible capture modes for authorisation and sale. The plugins support authorisation reversal, partial and full refunds, all reinforced with PCI-DSS compliance, end-to-end tokenisation, and 3D Secure 2.0.

Supported versions
The plugins can be run on SAP CC version 2211.02 and below, as well as supporting SAP CC, Composable storefront v6.8, and Salesforce CC SFRA v6 and below. We’re constantly upgrading the plugins to support later versions of the ecommerce platforms over time.

Merchant and customer experience
Real-time analytics and reporting allow merchants to access transaction data and performance insights instantly through SAP CC Backoffice, Salesforce CC Business Manager, and the Worldline Console. On the storefront, customers enjoy a smooth, mobile-responsive checkout with multi-language and multi-currency support. Back-office functionality empowers merchants to manage captures, reversals, refunds, card tokens and SEPA Direct Debit mandates, as well as tracking order and payment statuses, and configuring settings for recurring payments, checkout flows and 3D Secure. The Worldline Console integration provides a unified dashboard for transaction management, offering insights into success rates and payment trends.
